This realistic figurine is the work of, and signed by, Herman L. Deaton. A keen naturalist, Mr. Deaton supplemented his flair for capturing the subtleties of nature through study or direct observation. His works are represented in the permanent collections of several museums in the United and abroad

including The Smithsonian Institution and The National Geographic Society.
This piece was obtained from the Don Polland Estate. Mr. Polland (1932-2003) was a renown sculptor of miniatures of wildlife and American Western pieces. Mr. Polland was a contemporary of the Deaton brothers and received this signed piece directly from
Herman
.
